To be a priest of Emmanuel is to receive his call from the Heart of Christ, this zeal to make Christ known and loved in a personal encounter. It means living from the Heart of Christ through a demanding and faithful prayer life, but also through our brothers and sisters. It is to ask unceasingly for the renewal of the Effusion of the Spirit by which he is willing to allow himself to be seized and to give his whole life to Christ.
MISSIONARIES AND DIOCESANS, COLLABORATORS OF THEIR BISHOP
From the very beginning of the Emmanuel Community, men wanted to become priests and live Emmanuel's charism in this vocation. Pierre Goursat very quickly saw the importance for the Church of priests being able to live their mission as priests with their brothers and sisters in the world, in close collaboration with the bishops.
100% diocesan and 100% missionary, Emmanuel priests are fully diocesan, which is meant by "incardinated in a diocese." They share local life and collaborate with their bishop. They make themselves available to the universal mission of the Church by responding to the needs that the Church entrusts to the Emmanuel Community. They are concerned about announcing Christ to those who do not know him.

MANY ON MISSION WITH THEIR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE COMMUNITY
Emmanuel priests never live their mission alone. They live in a fraternity of Emmanuel priests. They are sent on their missions with brothers and sisters who are members of the Emmanuel Community, both lay and consecrated.
Whatever his mission, the Emmanuel priest is a member of a household where he can pray and share with other members of the Emmanuel Community to grow in union with God. He also participates in community activities: weekends, evangelization, summer sessions, etc.

IN A VARIETY OF MINISTRIES (PARISHES, MISSIONARY TEAM, TRAINING...)
The vast majority of Emmanuel priests serve in the parishes of their diocese. But other priests respond to the calls of the Church in a wide variety of ministries, as chaplains in hospitals, student hostels, schools, schools of evangelization, and as formators for seminarians. All of them serve where the Church sends them, in the charism of the Emmanuel Community.
