Encounter of leaders of the Emmanuel Community in Latin America

Sao Paolo3

Between January 9 and 12, 2020, different leaders of the Emmanuel Community in Latin America were gathered in São Paolo (Brazil) to pray and discern together on how to favor the growth of all its members towards holiness, particularly for this zone.

Due to the great importance that the Emmanuel Community gives to young adults, youth leaders of each of the “poles” were also present and met with the Head of youth for Latin America – Felipe Aranciba and the International youth Director for the Emmanuel Community – Fr. Janez Rus.

Sao Paolo4Also present were the delegate of the Moderator for Latin America Montse Huix, the Latin America Committee members, and the General Moderator of the Emmanuel Community, Michel-Bernard de Vregille and wife, Catherine de Vregille.

The meetings, the moments of prayer, and work-time were opportunities to strengthen ties and establish goals for the coming years.

The evenings as it usually happens in Latin America, were more relaxed with fraternal moments of sharing and games with the youth and adults together.

Brotherhood! This is the word that best describes the meeting we had in São Paulo. I praise and thank God for giving me this great grace, where I could see the beauty of being in the Emmanuel Community! Nothing touched me more than the universality of the Church, it was beautiful to see all the brothers and sisters together, without any distinction, be it in age, nationality or state of life; we were all united praising, in adoration, studying, being together, all with great zeal and love. Love for young people, love for the Church, love for Christ!
My place within the Holy Church is in the Emmanuel Community. There, I was able to find myself clearly and be sure that I am in the right place.” (Maria Clara)

“Olá!

It was a great joy for me to be able to participate in the meeting in São Paulo.
I could feel the joy of meeting the brothers and sisters, the joy of praising, praying and sharing with them.
It was also very enriching time! We had training courses that guided us on how to walk together with the  young adults in the Emmanuel Community. This was very fruitful because it is helping me to prepare the pastoral service for the youth of the Community here in Salvador.
Hearing the the message of the General Moderator was extremely important:
 – He encouraged us to be “Emmanuel” wherever we may be.
Therefore, I praise and thank God for this moment of grace that he allowed me to experience!”

“If we journey together, young and old, we can be firmly rooted in the present, and from here, revisit the past and look to the future. To revisit the past in order to learn from history and heal old wounds that at times still trouble us. To look to the future in order to nourish our enthusiasm, cause dreams to emerge, awaken prophecies and enable hope to blossom. Together, we can learn from one another, warm hearts, inspire minds with the light of the Gospel, and lend new strength to our hands.”
